Release 4.8.0 is the largest feature update in Meshcaid history. Over nine months of development, we've added entirely new social systems, rebuilt core platform experiences, and made hundreds of stability and quality-of-life improvements. Whether you're here to trade collectibles, build a community, or just catch up with friends — this release has something for you.

🏘️ Communities — Build and Join Your Own Communities

Meshcaid Communities are here. Create your own space, invite members, post announcements, manage a wall feed, and set up a leadership structure — all from within the platform.

Create a Community — Set up your own community with a custom name, description, logo, and banner. Choose between open, invite-only, or closed membership.
Community Hub — Browse all communities from the new Communities hub with search, filters, and suggested/popular sections.
Wall Feed — Post updates and replies in your community's live wall feed. Reactions and threaded replies keep conversations going.
Announcements — Pinned announcements for important community news, with image support and moderation controls.
Members & Roles — Manage your roster with a full role system. Create custom roles, assign permissions, and enforce a hierarchy — higher-ranked members are protected from lower-ranked admin actions.
Invitations — Send and accept community invitations directly from the platform. Invitation accept/decline flows are built right into the UI.
Settings & Ownership — Transfer community ownership, update branding, and manage community-level privacy from a dedicated settings page.
Scheduled Deletion — Thinking of closing a community? You have the ability to schedule a deletion, which gives you a 7-day grace period to change your mind before the community and all its data is permanently removed.
Permissions Audit — A read-only permissions tab shows the full effective permission set for each role at a glance.
Claim Abandoned Communities — If a community owner goes inactive, eligible members can claim ownership through a structured claim flow.
Guest View — Non-community members can browse public communities through a gated view.

🔄 Trading System — Trade Collectibles with Other Players

The full Meshcaid Trading System is now live. Send, receive, counter, and track trades with other players directly on the platform.

Trading Hub — Your central dashboard for all trades. View inbound offers, outbound offers, and your trade archive with status filters and sort controls.
Send a Trade Offer — Pick items from your inventory, review MAP (Market Average Price) totals, validate node cap compliance, and send a trade offer — all in one flow.
Counter-Offer — Don't like the terms? Counter with your own proposal. Full counter-offer creation and response is built into the trade detail view.
Trade History on Profiles — View a user's public trade history directly on their profile page.
Trade Detail Pages — Each trade has its own dedicated page with full item breakdowns, status history, and action buttons.
Trading Guidelines — A guidelines page explains eligibility requirements, trade rules, and what different trade status codes mean in plain language.
2FA Confirmation — Trades require two-factor authentication confirmation before submission — keeping your inventory safe.
Eligibility & Ban Messaging — If your account is ineligible to trade, you'll see a clear explanation rather than a broken page.

🌗 Light & Dark Mode — Choose Your Theme

Meshcaid now has a full theme system with light and dark mode support.

Theme Toggle — Switch between light and dark mode from the settings menu. Your preference is saved and synced with your account.
System Preference Detection — On first visit, your OS light/dark preference is automatically applied.
Platform-Wide Consistency — Every page, component, and modal respects your chosen theme — no more mixed-mode surprises.

🔔 New Notification Center

The notification system has been completely rebuilt from the ground up.

Notification Bell — An animated bell icon in the header shows your live unread notification count.
Notification Center Panel — Click the bell to open a slide-out panel with your notifications, filtering tabs (All, Mentions, System, Events), and mark-as-read controls.
Toast Notifications — Time-sensitive notifications pop up as dismissible toasts at the bottom of the screen, so you never miss an important update.
Dedicated Notifications Page — Visit /notifications for a full-page view with category filtering, pagination, and persistent read state.
Action Notifications — Some notifications include direct action buttons so you can respond without leaving the page.
Mobile Optimized — The notification center locks body scroll and shows a backdrop overlay on mobile for a proper full-screen experience.

🟢 Real-Time Presence — See What Friends Are Playing

You can now see what your friends are up to across the platform.

Presence Badges — User cards, friend lists, and profile pages now display a presence badge: Online, In-Game, Away, or Offline.
Game Status Labels — When a friend is in a game session, their status shows the game they're currently playing.
Friends Dashboard — The dashboard friend panel shows live presence for all your friends at a glance.
Sidebar Presence — Your own current presence is shown in the site header sidebar.
Users Directory Presence — Presence tones are displayed inline across all user list panels — search results, members lists, and friend pages.
Presence Privacy - Your privacy settings allow you to control who can and what can be seen about your presence status.

🎮 Games Platform Redesign

The Games section has been rebuilt with a far richer experience.

All-New Browse Page — Games browse fully redesigned with new card layouts, improved loading states, and better empty/error states.
Advanced Filtering — The filter system is rebuilt with multi-select toggle chips and URL-synced state — filters survive page refreshes.
Game Detail Pages — Detail pages now show live server summaries, aggregate player counts, linked player profile cards, related games, reviews, and patch notes.
Server Region Labels — Each game server card shows its region and an estimated latency for your location.
Live Game Summary — A live summary box on game detail pages shows current active players and server health at a glance.

👤 Profile & Privacy Upgrades

Your profile and privacy controls have both been significantly improved.

Granular Privacy Settings — Privacy settings now offer per-section controls: independently choose who can see your friends list, inventory, trade history, and communities membership. No more all-or-nothing privacy.
Privacy-Gated Profile Sections — When visiting another user's profile, sections they've set to private display empty or don't render.
Modular Profile Layout — Profiles are now organized into modular sections (bio, stats, communities preview, social actions) for a cleaner look on all screen sizes.
Social Button Feedback — Invite and trade action buttons now show loading spinners while requests are in flight, preventing accidental double-submissions.

🚨 Account Violations & Appeals

A new structured system for account moderation transparency.

Violations Overview — If your account has any active violations or warnings, a dedicated page shows them clearly with severity and context.
Warnings Display — Modular warnings component shows your infraction history with timeline and status.
Account Restriction Page — When an account restriction is active, a dedicated page explains its nature and estimated duration.
Rejected Username Page — If your chosen username was rejected, a dedicated page guides you through submitting a replacement.
Violation Appeals — Submit an appeal for any violation with a structured evidence form. Track your appeal status from the same page.

👥 Users Directory Redesign

The users directory has been rebuilt with a more information-dense and action-friendly layout.

Horizontal User Cards — User cards redesigned from vertical blocks to horizontal rows — avatar, display name, username, presence badge, and action buttons all inline.
Quick Accept/Decline — Incoming friend requests now have accept and decline buttons directly on the card, no more going to the profile page to respond.
Incoming Badge — A live badge on the sidebar Users link shows your pending incoming friend request count.
Improved Empty States — Each tab has its own illustrated empty state with clear messaging.

⚙️ Settings & Account Improvements

Several quality-of-life improvements land across your account settings.

Modernized Settings Layout — Settings page rebuilt with a dual-column layout (navigation sidebar + content) consistent with the rest of the site design.
Account Tier Icon — Your account tier (Pro, Basic Subscriber, or Backer) now appears as an icon directly next to your username in the site header.
Age Bracket Display — A new age bracket system replaces the use of birthdays for the entire system. This is for improved privacy and to comply with continuing changes in data protection regulations. Meshcaid's moderation team does not have access to your birthdate, only the age bracket.
Remember Me — The "Remember Me" checkbox on login now correctly controls whether your session persists as a short session-length cookie or a 30-day persistent token.
Nodes Transactions Page — A new transactions page under your account shows your complete Nodes transaction history with date-range and type filters.
Character Customization — Staged Save — Character customization changes are now staged locally. A single Save button sends all your changes in one go — no partial saves mid-edit.

Note: We know there are general concerns related to ages and privacy. The age bracket system is designed to strike a balance between giving users control over their information and allowing the platform to enforce age-based policies. We are strictly against age verification systems that require users to submit sensitive documents or personally identifiable information. The age bracket system allows us to enforce necessary restrictions while respecting user privacy and we will continue to explore ways to enhance privacy and security without compromising user experience for all ages.

🛍️ Marketplace Improvements

Unique Items Market — Unique item listings have a dedicated browsable market with filtering, sorting, and category views.
Purchase & Cancel Flow — Buy or cancel unique listings directly from the marketplace with a clean confirmation flow.
Source Type Labels — Transaction history and listing cards now display clear source type labels (gifted, purchased, event reward, etc.).
Filter State Preserved — Navigating away from the marketplace and returning now restores your filter and search state exactly as you left it.
Inventory Unification — Your inventory page and other users' inventory pages now share a consistent layout, filter behavior, and search experience.

🎉 Seasonal Events

Three seasonal events shipped and completed during the 4.8.0 cycle:

Twelve Days of Christmas 2025 — A 12-day countdown event with one daily gift reveal. Gift grid styled as a festive tree/pyramid layout.
Cupid's Cache Quest — Valentines 2026 — A scavenger-style collectible discovery event with hidden Cache locations across the platform.
Easter 2026 — A game-based egg-hunt event with a live journal tracking your found collectibles, narrative entries unlocked as you progress, and a live progress sidebar card on your dashboard.

🔐 Authentication & Session Stability

We invested heavily in the reliability of authentication throughout this release cycle.

Eliminated Login Flash — Pages no longer flash an unauthenticated state before the session loads, thanks to proper session hydration.
Stable Sessions Across Tabs — Multiple open tabs no longer trigger authentication issues triggering a logout. Tab coordination ensures only one tab handles session refreshes and keeps others in sync.
Reliable Production Sessions — Fixed a range of cookie attribute issues (Secure, SameSite, Domain, Host-prefix) that caused sessions to silently drop on HTTPS proxy deployments.
Logout Redirect Fixed — Improved logout flow to ensure all your account data is properly cleaned up and proper pages are shown after logging out.
Remember Me Works Correctly — Session duration now correctly reflects whether you checked "Remember Me" at login.
Better Recovery — If session recovery stalls, the platform automatically reloads to restore a clean state rather than leaving you on a broken page.

🔧 Platform & Infrastructure

Maintenance Mode — The platform can now enter a maintenance mode that shows a clean maintenance page. This allows us to perform critical backend updates without leaving you with a broken experience.
Upgrade Page — A new /upgrade page presents subscription tier options (Basic, Pro) with feature comparison and direct links to the billing portal.
Discord Integration Fixes — Fixed 400 errors on Discord OAuth callback; improved the not-connected state for unlinked accounts.
Self-Interaction Prevention — The platform now prevents sending friend requests or following yourself.

Communities Hub Pagination — Suggested/popular sections no longer bleed into the discover pagination when scrolling
Marketplace Unique Cancel/Buy — Fixed actions incorrectly targeting incorrect backend id's.
