How To Earn Nodes Without Spending Anything
Daily streaks, events, contests, free items, selling, and trading. Every way to build up Nodes on Meshcaid without spending a thing.
Nodes are what everything on Meshcaid runs on, and a lot of people assume buying them is the only real way to get them. You can buy them, but you don't have to. Plenty of players have built out full inventories without spending anything, and here's how they do it.
Log In Every Day
This is the simplest one, and the one people underrate the most. Every day you log in, you get free Nodes. Log in on consecutive days, and a multiplier kicks in, so the daily reward grows the longer your streak runs. Miss two days in a row and it resets back to the start.
On a free account, that's 5 Nodes a day at the base, and a long enough streak doubles it. That doesn't sound like much on day one, but over a few months it turns into a real budget, and it costs you about ten seconds a day. You can see where your streak is at any time from the Nodes dropdown at the top of the site.
Members get a larger daily amount and a higher multiplier cap, but the streak works the same way for everyone.
Show Up For Events
Events are where the larger amounts come from, and most of them pay out in Nodes one way or another.
Twelve Days of Christmas runs from December 14th through Christmas Day. You claim a present each day you log in, most of them are Nodes, and if you claim all twelve without missing a day, there's a bonus waiting at the end.
Contests pay the most if you're willing to put in some effort. The Collective Force winner takes home 10,000 Nodes every summer, and the Spooky Costume Contest is running right now through October 31st, with 6,000, 2,500, and 1,500 Nodes for the top three. The top two also get their costume turned into a real marketplace item. The only cost of entering is putting together a good look, using what you already own or anything in the marketplace, free items included.
Grab The Free Items
Free items aren't Nodes, but every free item you claim is Nodes you don't have to spend. Some items in the marketplace are always free, and sales usually come with a couple of free ones too. For example, Labor Day had two this year.
Sales in general are worth waiting for if you're on a budget. Discounts regularly run up to 75% off, so the same Nodes go a lot further if you're patient about when you spend them.
Sell What You Don't Wear
Uniques have a fixed number of copies, and once one is off sale we never sell it again. The only place left to get one after that is from another player, which means if you own a Unique, you can list it on the marketplace and sell it for Nodes at whatever price you set. You don't need a membership to list something for sale, only to trade. A small fee comes out of each sale, but Pro members pay a lower fee.
Some Uniques end up worth a lot more than they cost. The Ammo Belt Sash released at 100 Nodes, only seven copies were ever originally sold, and a single copy has resold for over 27,000. Our recommendation, though, is to buy what you like and treat anything it's worth later as a bonus, values don't always rise.
Trading is the other route, and it’s open to anyone with a membership. Instead of selling an item outright, you swap it directly with another player, and either side can add Nodes to even out the deal. That makes it a good way to turn something you never wear into something you will, with a few Nodes coming back to you on top. If you’re new to it, our trading guide covers finding partners and avoiding bad deals.
What’s Coming Later
Right now, the ways to earn Nodes are mostly about showing up and engaging the market. That’s going to change. Down the line, players will be able to earn Nodes from what they make, whether that’s items they design and sell through the marketplace or games they build that other people play and spend in.
We don’t have dates to share yet, and we’d rather not promise them before they’re real. But the long-term idea is that the people who make Meshcaid more interesting get rewarded for it, not just the people who log in the most.
What Doesn't Work
Making extra accounts to collect daily rewards, known as Node farming, and similar methods are against our rules, and the accounts involved are moderated against, along with whatever they collected.
Where To Start
If you're starting from zero, log in today to get your streak going, then grab whatever's free in the marketplace. If you've got an outfit idea in your head, the Costume Contest submissions are open until the 23rd and cost nothing to enter.
All of that works on a free account. If you want it to add up faster, that's where a membership comes in. Basic triples your daily login reward and lets your streak multiplier climb to 4x instead of 2x, so a long streak is worth up to 60 Nodes a day instead of 10. It also adds 250 bonus Nodes every month, 5% off everything in the marketplace, 25 community slots, and unlocks trading. Pro goes further, with up to 100 Nodes a day, 600 bonus Nodes a month, 12% off the marketplace, a lower selling fee, and a new Pro-exclusive item every month.
Basic is $4.99 a month, Pro is $12.99 a month, and between the daily streak and the monthly bonus, either one can end up giving you more Nodes than the same money would buy outright. You can compare both at meshcaid.com/upgrade.
