How An Item Goes From Idea To Marketplace
One forum request, four years of trapper hats, and the reason a lot of what's on Meshcaid exists is because someone asked.
A while back, someone in the Meshcaid forums asked for a trapper hat. We didn't have any at the time, in any color.
We've been adding them ever since. A few colors have rolled out over the years, and in a few weeks, the grey one will finally show up too because someone asked.
That happens more than you'd think. A lot of what's on Meshcaid right now exists because a player asked for it and we actually built it.
Where The Ideas Come From
The forums, mostly, and the Discord too. There's a running conversation about what should come to the marketplace next, and it never really stops. Some suggestions are specific down to the color. Some are just a vibe, "we need more medieval stuff," or "can we get something for the cold weather." Some are one line, some are a full wishlist with reasons attached.
We read all of it, because it's some of the most useful input we get. We could sit around guessing based on trends, or we could just look at the thread where people are telling us. The thread wins every time.
What Happens After That
We'll keep this part short, because the behind-the-scenes stuff isn't the interesting bit. An idea gets picked up, it gets built, it gets a name and a description, and it goes into the schedule for a future drop. That's most of it.
What matters is that ideas don't vanish after you post them. If something's a good fit, it goes on the list. It might not show up next week, and it might take a while to work through, but "we'll consider it" isn't a polite brush-off here. It means it's on the list, and the list actually gets worked through. Sometimes that takes years. We don't forget.
The trapper hats are the proof. Someone asked for one back in 2022 when we had none, and we've been rolling them out ever since, with grey arriving in 2026 to complete the full suggestion. Plenty of other items in the marketplace started as a simple suggestion too, and you'd never guess which ones.
Why We Do It This Way
Because it's better. A platform built by a team guessing in a vacuum is going to be worse than one that listens to the people using it. We don't have a giant team or a research department. We have a community that's happy to tell us exactly what they want, and enough sense to take that seriously.
It also means the marketplace slowly ends up looking like the people here, instead of whatever we happened to think was cool that week. That's the better version of it, or we think so anyway.
So, An Open Invitation
If there's an item you want on Meshcaid, say so. Post it in the forums or the Discord. Specific or vague, doesn't matter. A color, a theme, a whole outfit, one weird hat you can't stop thinking about.
We're reading, and that's not a figure of speech. The next item that shows up because someone asked could just as easily be yours.
Go tell us what you want!
